What are the most common mistakes on a passport application? ›

The other common types of passport mistakes are typos, errors, or a misspelled name. This can result from rushing an application, not paying attention, and/or not double checking your application for spelling errors and other inconsistencies, like incorrect information.

The Postal Service's role is to accept passport applications at designated facilities, ensure all application documents are correct, and submit documents to the State Department. The Postal Service and State Department have an interagency agreement that governs passport acceptance.

Most importantly, there are several legal reasons a passport application could get denied. If you owe money on child support, you're ineligible for a passport, even if you fill everything out correctly. All money has to be paid through the appropriate state agency before you can submit the application.

Some reasons to deny a passport include: A valid, unsealed federal warrant of arrest. A federal or state criminal court order. A condition of parole or probation forbidding departure from the United States (or the jurisdiction of the court)

How to Cancel Passport Appointment Without Code? The DFA does not allow you to cancel or reschedule a passport appointment date without a code. Only after you pay the processing fee will you receive the payment reference code from the DFA via email.
